Lesiure Suit Larry bringing sexy back to mobile gaming
If you grew up in the eighties and nineties, Sierra games like Police Quest, Space Quest and Leisure Suit Larry were a staple part of any 286/386 PC owner’s gaming diet. My favourite, by far, was always good ol’ Larry. The crappy graphics,
cheesy catchy Soundblaster tunes, naughty jokes and tons of adventure waiting around every corner – nothing could beat it.
And funnily enough, as time went by and technology moved on, Larry’s unique brand of entertainment never wore off, as the legendary Lounge Lizard survived the world’s transition to expensive graphics cards and Pentium processors. Several sequels were created, all of which achieved decent levels of success by keeping Larry’s new adventures and sense of humour in line with the times.
Now that we live in the age of mobile, Larry’s determined not to be left behind. US developer Replay Games has confirmed that they’ve partnered with Al Lowe (the original brain behind Larry’s original release in 1987) and will be releasing a brand new version of Leisure Suit Larry on iPhone (iOS) and Android (for mobile), along with re-releases for PC and Mac.
CEO of Replay Games, Paul Trowe, was naturally ecstatic at being able to make this happen. “I’ve been working to acquire the original Sierra properties for over ten years. The remake of the original Leisure Suit Larry is going to kick so much ass, the entire world will have to play it standing up,” he said.
And thanks to Al Lowe’s contribution, fans of the original Larry can look forward to meeting the same shady guy we all fell in love with in ’87. According to Lowe, “Working with Paul’s team ensures that the world’s favorite leisure suit-wearer remains the same guy we all learned to love a quarter-century ago. I’ll oversee the entire production of these games to ensure the highest standards and some amazing new adventures for my pal, Larry. It’s great to see my creation released from his digital dungeon!”
