iPhone alarm app lets you donate cash to charity every time you snooze

Thanks to our stressful lifestyles these days, filled with barrages of messages via email, social networks and mobile phones, it’s no wonder that it’s becoming harder and harder to get out of bed in the mornings. Living in the 21st century is not as simple as it was when all we had to do was wake up, hunt and go back to sleep. So to force ourselves out of slumberland every 24 hours, we’ve had to find more inventive ways of waking us up out of our well-deserved sleep.

Inventors have been quite creative too. One of my favourite alarm devices is the flying alarm clock, which shoots a propeller-like apparatus across the room when your alarm goes off, forcing you to get out of bed to fetch it and plug it back in. Until you manage to hook the thing back in, the alarm won’t let you snooze it or switch it off.

But what if you don’t have one of these airborne heroes with you when you absolutely have to get out of bed on time? A new iPhone app hopes to have solved that problem by using another powerful mechanism to reach us where it hurts: in our wallets! Simply called Snooze, the app pledges 25 cents to charity whenever you hit the snooze button. Hit it four times in a morning and you’ll be $1 down before you’ve even put a foot out of bed.

Built by a company called LetGive, Snooze lets you choose the charity you’re donating your hard-earned sleep cash to, and payments are made twice a month. Remember, you snooze, you lose – how much you spend is entirely up to you.
